Ranch Drive Baptist Church Organized After '45 Revival

The Ranch Drive Baptist Church, located on U.S. 60 and Ranch Drive, was organized in April of 1945 with 24 charter members. The organization was the result of a revival meeting held not far from where the present building is located.

The Rev. E. L. Minor, then pastor of the Liberty Baptist Church, did the preaching in the revival which resulted in the organization of the church.

The first meeting place for the new church was a chicken house donated by William and Edna Ivie, whose son, Perry is still an active member of the church.

The land on which the present church building was constructed was donated by Claud and Maud Austin.

The first part of the present church building was constructed in 1948, and as the congregation grew, other additions were made to the facility.

The Rev. W.R. King served as the first pastor. Other ministers serving the congregation have been the Rev. George Williams, the Rev. J.P. Crager, the Rev. Finis O'Neal, the Rev. Eddie Overstreet, the Rev. Dr. Jerry Mitchell, the Rev. William Boyd and the current minister, the Rev. Larry Calvert.

A new parsonage was constructed just north of the church building in 1955, with three bedrooms, garage and a partial basement. The structure cost $12,000 at that time.

Ranch Drive Baptist Church to Mark 50th Anniversary

Ranch Drive Baptist Church will celebrate their 50th anniversary on May 7, 1995 with an all-day meeting worshiping together, eating together, recalling the growth of the church and making lots of new memories.

Ranch Drive Baptist Church was organized in April 1945 with 24 charter members. The organization of the church was the result of a revival meeting held not far from the present church building. The Rev. E.L. Minor, then pastor of Liberty Baptist Church here, did the preaching in the revival, members recall.

The first meeting to organize the new church was held in a chicken house donated by William and Edna Ivie. The land on which the present church building was constructed was donated by Claud and Maud Austin.

The first section of the present church building was constructed in 1948, and as the congregation grew, other additions were made to the facility. The Rev. W. R. King served as the first pastor. Welcome
Ranch Drive Baptist Church
April 22 2007

We would like to thank you for joining us today for the dedication of our new worship center. It has been built by the grace of God and the willingness of faithful volunteers. These people who have given themselves to this cause for the past seven years have much to be proud of. But the thing that we are most proud of here at Ranch Drive Baptist Church is that by the grace of God you are able to join us in worshiping Him today. We would like to invite you to come back whenever you feel led to worship here. Everything we do at Ranch Drive Baptist Church is for the glory and honor of God. We hope and pray that God will richly bless you. Please take a moment to read a little of the history of our church found below.

Ranch Drive Baptist Church originally began in a chicken shed owned by Mr. & Mrs. Ivie, 1/4 mile East of this location in March of 1945. In October, 1945 a different building was purchased for $750.00 and moved to this corner at the beginning of 1946. The first services were held in the new building on March 24, 1946. The proposed budget at that time was $30.00 per week. The church then in 1948 purchased a building from Sunset Baptist Church and voted to put a basement under when it was moved in and attached to the existing sanctuary. Later on the East addition was added to make more room as the church grew. Then in 1999 the church decided, by God's guidance and grace, to build a new sanctuary without taking on any debt. The construction began in 2001 and was finished in 2006. The new sanctuary was built debt free. With lots of hard work and a cost of around $145,000, plus all of the hours spent working on it.

Throughout the years this church has been blessed with great men of God to Shepard this flock. We would like to recognize these men for their service here. Following are the names of the pastors who have served at this church beginning on April 8, 1945 to the present date; E. L. Minor, W.R. King, George Williams, I. R. Creagor, Finis O'Neal, Gene Cafferty, Gene Strahan (Interim), Weldon Stevens, Jerry Mitchell, Bill Boyd, Eddy Overstreet, Bill Dickover, Larry Calvert, John Young (interim), Jacob Blackwelder.
